Welcome to the Heritage PS website! Bienvenue à Heritage!
Heritage Public School is a home away from home for approximately 275 students and almost 40 staff members. Nestled in between the beautiful village of Navan and cornfields, the furthest eastern school in OCDSB, we are a dual track school offering the English program and the Early French Immersion program to students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8.
Our dedicated school team follows a relationship-based approach to student well-being and achievement. We are committed to creating the conditions required for culturally-responsible and mentally-healthy learning and working environments. We are committed to having all of our students’ voices, our students’ stories, and our students’ identities heard and reflected in the classroom and in our school.
Our school theme for this year is the Power of Teamwork. We believe that we can more easily achieve our goals with kindness, empathy, compassion, a growth mindset and teamwork. We will continue to align our school priorities with our district's Strategic Plan and focus on accessible pathways for all students, Truth and Reconciliation, early reading, equity, human rights and anti-oppression, and community engagement. This year, our School Learning Plan will be focused on literacy: early screening, reading interventions, accommodations, and a structured literacy approach.
Heritage is extremely fortunate to have an engaged, caring and hard-working parent community that is supportive of student learning and our school activities. They are present in classrooms, assist with supervision on field trips, and respond to our many invitations to support us where needed. Our School Council is growing and includes a vibrant and enthusiastic group of parents who are important stakeholders in our overall plan for improving life at Heritage for our students.
I look forward to a terrific year and to working with you as a partner in your child's education. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.
